Sometimes all it takes for the Friends to get clients is a little paranoia from the past. Magnifico was once a decent man who just wanted to set up a safe place to escape from the troubles of the world. But the friends often sent devils to whisper in his ear that in order to make a truly safe land, you'd need to take away the people's wishes. Little did Magnifico know that taking a person's deepest wish was akin to taking a part of their soul. The BEST part in fact. The part that strives to do good and progress oneself beyond what they were. As such, his kingdom of Rosas was in fact a secret rallying point for the Friends as they lurked in shadow, thriving off seeing the kingdom's souls secretly crying out in pain at never being truly fulfilled.
Of course, that was before The High Council decided that this kingdom of stagnation needed to change, and sent The Wishing Star down to change everything. Then the Friends decided that it was no longer necessary to give pretenses of the shadows. "This is the Thanks I Get?" is them secretly making a deal with Magnifico. To have the power to find the renegade in return for his servitude. In paranoia, Magnifico accepted. From this corrupting power, Magnifico came closer and closer to harvesting his entire kingdom as an offering to the friends. However, that was before Asha inspired them all to instead use the magic within them to counter his power and imprison him in his own staff. The friends were furious at losing the wishes and their new agent, but due to the new magical presences there, are currently unable to harvest Magnifico for his failures.
